Chestita Baba Marta

Posted on

Chestita Baba Marta to one and all.

It’s the 1st of March and in Bulgaria it’s a celebration for the forth coming Spring, people give each other red and white woven bracelets, you keep these on until you see the first stork or the first buds on the trees then you take it off and put it on a tree for good health, crops and weather.

In my creative groove I spent last night making many of these bracelets called Martinitsa’s for friends and people in our village.

  1. As the first person to receive a Martenitsa from you…thank you, my love. I feel positively springlike today – in spite of the one metre of snow all around. Possibly psychologically, but with the red and white band around my wrist the weather felt a touch warmer today.
